![]() ![]() If you venture a little outside the norm and explore Paso, you’ll find some great new wines, and recognize that your money goes a long way.ĬostcoWineBlog. ![]() Like we mentioned in the Daou review, there are amazing wines in Napa and Sonoma and they come with a hefty price tag. I can enjoy those almost anytime, with anything, anybody… It’s similar to how I feel about Rhone wines. ![]() And when you just don’t know what else to open, it’s always a solid pick. Sure, it’s not an inexpensive wine, but it’s perfect in every occasion great with all kinds of food, classy enough to take to a dinner party to please a crowd a nice gift for a wine loving friend. The winery is celebrating their 30th anniversary this year I love the versatility of a bottle like this, and it makes me want to just drop a bottle (one at least) of this in my cart every trip to Costco just to have on hand. The wine pours a deep ruby in the glass, with black fruit and spice on the nose in the mouth flavors of blackberry, black cherry, anise with some mocha into the finish really nice lingering spice in the finish. But as I got into this 2017 vintage, I realized right away that I would be moving that score up a tad, especially considering the reasonable price point for such quality juice. We reviewed the 2016 Justin two years ago and awarded it 88 points. And if you step it up to their higher end bottlings, like the ISOSCELES, which is a Bordeaux blend for around $65, the wines get really really good. Sometimes I forget what a fantastic bottle of wine this Justin really is for only $20 at Costco. Recently, Justin Vineyard & Winery organized a vertical tastingtasting various vintages of the same wine. Costco brought that one in around the same price point as this Justin bottle, so we have two very solid offerings from Paso worth exploring in stores right now. Justin Isosceles 2016, 2017, 2018 Posted on Maby gusclemens This is different wine review than I have attempted before. Try it right now with rich, full-flavored dishes like braised beef short ribs over polenta as easily as it does with a Ribeye Steak simply seasoned with salt and pepper and grilled over an open fire.We just reviewed the Daou Cabernet, also from Paso Robles and loved it, awarding the wine 90 points, and a spot on our Top Picks list. If you can, try cellaring some of your 2017 Isosceles to better experience the added complexity and finesse that only time can bring to this exceptional wine. The 2017 Isosceles is full-bodied, complex and balanced and pairs well with rich, full-flavored dishes. Sustained fruit, spice and savory elements mix through a very long, complex and fresh finish with lingering tannins. The mid palate has continuing ripe fruit with savory dried leaf elements, cedar, anise, camphor and a bit of cocoa surrounded with firm, chewy tannins and sweet spice notes that add complexity as the palate evolves. Paso Robles California Deep ruby/purple core with a black secondary color, and lighter toward the rim with moderate. Dry, full-bodied with ripe, complex black fruit of cherry and blackcurrants layered with baking spice on the entry. Highly aromatic with ripe black cherry and cassis fruit, vanilla and cinnamon spice with cedar, graphite, dried autumn leaf and licorice notes over an attractive toasted oak background. The 2017 Isosceles is a full, complex and rich wine that is drinking nicely on release and will offer added complexity in a few years. Moderate plus viscosity with slow forming, slightly stained tears. Dark ruby core, lighter in color toward the rim. Available through Reserve Club membership via the winery. ![]()
